Product Description
Seedlac is melted and filtered to remove all impurities. The Molten Lac is rolled over heated rollers to bring the end product. Labeled as GRAS (generally recognized as safe) by the US FDA, it is widely used as a coating for several types of foods like fruits, coffee beans, chewing gum, chocolates and candies. It is used in the medicine industry as Pharmaceutical glaze, which is an alcohol-based solution of food-grade shellac.
Shellac is a natural bioadhesive polymer and is chemically similar to synthetic polymers, and thus can be considered a natural form of plastic. Traditionally, known to be wood’s best sealer, it is widely used as a wood coating, also known as French Polish. Shellac and it’s by-products like Shellac Wax, Lac Dyes, etc. are also used in cosmetics and garment industries.
